Lucky You! You've been invited to a wedding at Sun Lotus Life
Center...
Relax & enjoy, this will be one of the nicest weddings you have ever attended!
Sun Lotus is a yogic center and therefore promotes a certain type of atmosphere;
we appreciate a respectful, fun, relaxed and low-key type of event; we want
you to have fun, but we do not tolerate drunken & disorderly behaviour.
Your hosts may have a liquor license and must follow appropriate restrictions,
other alcoholic beverages are subject to confiscation.
What to Bring:
- map, written directions, phone numbers
- comfortable shoes, sweater/shawl, raincoat,
umbrella, sunglasses, sunscreen
- tent, sleeping gear and flashlight
- towel, bathing suit, and sandals for lake, hot tub or tubing
- cash or credit card for breakfast or tubing (no debit or credit available)
Here's some information about the venue:
- Remember that Sun Lotus is on the Inland side of Hwy #1 half-way
between Duncan & Lake Cowichan.
- We can be difficult to find, so please have a close look at the map
and be sure to print and bring the directions and phone number with you...many
places along the way do not have cell phone coverage, so if you need to call
for on-the-spot directions, please pull over!
- All parking is on-site, please do not park on the street. We have
plenty of parking and a looped driveway...so come on down!
- If you have a RV please do NOT come down our driveway, you may have
trouble getting back up...drive past our driveway and turn left at the next
street (Aquino), turn left again (on Belvedere)...this will take you around
the property to the back entrance behind the lake, where you can enter and park
next to the badminton net, tucked against the side bank.
- If you are tenting for the night, there are several spots available
and we ask that you put your tent up while the couple are finishing up their
photos (usually marked by their appearance on the island)--please do not
mash down the tall grassy areas.
- The grounds here are all earthen, grass and gravel...therefore spiked
high-heel shoes will not be the best choice of footwear.
- There are several hazards on the property that you need to be keenly aware
of especially for children -- so please keep a close eye on your youngsters.
- If you are a smoker, please be sure to deposit all cigarette butts
into the appropriate containers that you will find in the smoking areas-the
next day's clean-up involves picking up all stray butts. Please remember
that the parking lot is not a smoking section.
- Sun Lotus will look secluded to you, but in fact we have very gracious neighbours
that allow us to host weddings. With that in mind, WE keep strict control
over the volume of the music and by 10:00 pm the music will be contained
in the dance hall with the doors closed -- we appreciate your cooperation in
helping us to keep our neighbors happy -- so, please do not adjust the volume,
do not holler, cheer, or stomp. The parking lot, pond, forest and perimeter
areas are all quiet zones. Please do not be offended when we remind you to be
quiet...we understand its hard to remember when your having fun!
- We try very hard to provide fully separated garbage disposal-your
friends are having their wedding here knowing that we put forth a sincere
effort to keep it green...your mindful help with this is very appreciated!
- Please feel free to explore our grounds, keeping in mind that we like to
keep the natural untouched look of some areas, so please be aware that you remain
on the paths.
- Dogs are welcome only if the couple have agreed to it -- check
with them. However, all dogs must remain on hand held leashes
(not tied to posts in the venue area). They can be free or be tied up at the
lake, but please be sure they do not crush the natural growth. There is a poop
scoop available and you may dispose into the forest or long grasses.
- Please remember the Lake area is a total quiet zone after-dark.
- Sunday morning we offer a buffet breakfast for $15 including fresh-farm
eggs cooked to order, many different breads and spreads, cheese and ham, fruit,
coffee and juice. Served approximately at 10 am.
- Please remember that your friends are responsible for any damages
so please be respectful with the facilities.
